Can't open local OPML files

I have version and am unable to open local OPML files.

I've created the files using an online OPML creator (  The output is copy/pasted into a text editor (ultraedit) then saved to my local hard drive.  I then copy the .opml file to the device (AT&T Tilt) and try to open it (browse/change folder/select)....

If there are spaces in the path the status label (in light gray) seems to stop at the first space.

I have tried using paths w/o spaces (e.g., \temp\itc.opml, \itc.opml).  Using the storage card, using main memory.  A different OPML generator.  Saving the file as UNICODE text instead of ASCII text.  None of these have worked.

Any ideas?  What tools are other people using to create OPML files?

Turns out the opml file must not contain any CR/LFs.  I vaguely remember this being a whitespace related option on one of the XML classes.
