Issues with V 2.6.1

Jan 2, 2008 at 5:16 PM
Hello.

I have updated to the latest release and a number of my RSS feeds are no-longer working. I get a message that the URL doesn not point to a valid feed. They worked before.

Here is an example:
http://www.marketwatch.com/feeds/podcast/podcast.asp?count=10&doctype=116&column=TheWallStreetJournalThis+Morning

This is a daily podcast.

Thanks for the help.

Yes, BeyondPod indeed has a problem with that feed. I don't think it has to do with the upgrade, but rather than something in the feed has changed. I will investigate and hopefully release a fix. Do you think you can post all feeds that you have trouble with - my guess is that they all have the same issue. Are they all WSJ feeds?

Thank you for the response.

The first link I gave you did not paste to the thread correctly because of some of the markup code characters it contains. That thread should be: http://feeds.wsjonline.com/wsj/podcast_wall_street_journal_this_morning

A second feed that is not working is: http://feeds.foxnews.com/foxnews/latest

A third non-working feed is: http://www.velonews.com/instantrss.php?url=http://www.velonews.com/rss.html

All of these feeds stopped working as soon as I updated upon installing the new version of BeyondPod

Thanks

Can you try to get the latest Build (2.6.1.16). You can use "Menu->Help->Check for Updates" from your device. All tree feeds should work correctly with that build. There was an issue that both FOX and WSJ used a non standard way to format their publish dates. The third feed worked correctly even without the fix so I am not sure what was the problem there.

There is something really strange with this feed. If I try to subscribe to it using Internet Explorer - the feed comes back with "Page Not Found" - which is the same error that BeyondPod gets. The strange thing is that I did try it with Google reader and it worked there. I am not sure what is going on at this point. I will investigate further and hopefully come up with something.

I hope this isn't a stupid question: I have a podcast (http://podcast.hr-online.de/hr2_wissenswert/podcast.xml) that has some 50+ items. I marked all as "read" yesterday to get only new ones. Today a new item appeared (I can even see it in the podcast page with a "download" link, while all others have a "download again" link) but when I choose "update feed" I get the message "nothing to download". The max. number of podcasts is set to 10, and I have only 7 downloaded. so that is not the problem.
Can anyone help? Isn't this meant to work so that I automatically get new podcasts (I am new to podcasts, but am an experienced computer user).
EDIT1: The podcast page even shows a link "Download All 1 New Podcasts"....!
